The Package-Center is the central hub on your DiskStation where you can install and de-install apps provided by Synology and selected 3rd party apps. By default not that much apps are provided and those provided are usually not up-to-date. I’m not talking about the great inhouse apps from Synology but about general useful apps like wordpress for example.
The Package Center
Fortunately you can expand the available apps by adding custom, community based software repositories as software sources to the package center.
To do this open up your Package Center and click on Settings. In the settings that open change the Trust Level to
• Any publisher
Adding Software Sources
Next open the Package Sources Tab and click on Add.
In the following dialog box add a nice name for your software source in the Name field and the url of the software repository in the Location field.
Click on OK and enjoy the packages from your new source.
