When you use Musicbrainz Picard to tag and rename music files, the Windows version of Picard will automatically replace any character that is not Windows compatible with a underscore. Those characters are :*”
The song “America: What Time Is Love” will be named “America_ What Time Is Love”.

Personally I don’t like that – I think it’s ugly. So here is how to prevent the adding of the underscores and instead just not add anything at all (as it should be by default in my opinion).

Add the following lines as first lines to you file renaming script.

Detailed information about how to rename you files with Musicbrainz Picard can be found here.

$set(artist,$rreplace(%artist%,["*:<>?|],))
$set(album,$rreplace(%album%,["*:<>?|],))
$set(title,$rreplace(%title%,["*:<>?|],))
